*"The Health on the Net Foundation Code of Conduct (HONcode) for medical and health Web sites addresses one of Internet's main healthcare issues: the reliability and credibility of information.

The HON foundation certification focuses only on human health online content.

The Internet has become one of the most widely-used communication media. With the availability of Web server software, anyone can set up a Web site and publish any kind of data which is then accessible to all.

The problem is therefore no longer finding information but assessing the credibility of the publisher as well as the relevance and accuracy of a document retrieved from the Net.

...

The Health On the Net Foundation has elaborated the Code of Conduct to help standardize the reliability of medical and health information available on the World-Wide Web.
MyNDTALK is looking for dynamic volunteers to assist in all aspects of podcast planning and production; coordinate and recruit fundraising teams, leverage community support via social media, etc. and generally help in our mission to reduce stigma by education.  Please submit your application to MyNDTALKOnline@gmail.com

Answering the following questions will help us match your volunteer application with a suitable volunteer role. All volunteers must be 21 +

Please review our website to familiarize yourself with our approach to mental/relationship health empowerment.

We are delighted that you are going to be a part of MyNDTALK with Dr. Pamela Brewer.
PLEASE REVIEW THIS INFORMATION IN ITS ENTIRETY.

MyNDTALK enjoys a broad age range (18 – 65+) diverse racial/cultural/gendered audience. Listeners tend to have at least an undergraduate degree with graduate degreed clinicians and other professionals tuning in on a regular basis.

This is a very self-help/psychology savvy, internally motivated audience. The MyNDTALK audiences are readers (hard copy books and/or electronic media), educators, clinicians, community activists, and more.

If you are providing background material for use during your interview – please plan to email the information (booking@MyNDTALK.org) no later than 1 week (7 days) prior to your interview.

While Dr. Brewer does not to talk with guests prior to an interview – the provision of background material is essential for preparation. MyNDTALK reserves the right to postpone/reschedule/cancel interviews when the background material is not provided in a timely manner.

On the day of the interview, call 301-825-5407, 5 minutes prior to the scheduled interview time. You will be connected to the host, Pamela Brewer, who will be able to answer any last-minute questions you may have while the engineer verifies connections, sound, etc. There are 3 segments in the 30 - minute interview. 1st segment = 10 minutes, 2nd= 13, 3rd/final segment (includes closing credits) = 5.If you have not already shared your website/other contact info – this is the segment in which to provide this info. Interviews via landline are always preferred. If you are outside of the United States, we would anticipate that you call in via Skype - the Skype telephone number, an audio only number, is 301-825-5407.

Questions are not provided ahead of time – but know that they will be focused on your book/article/document/life. Remember that this programming is for educational purposes – so if/when we are talking about something that you have written/are doing, etc. – be careful not to turn the interview into a commercial for your product. You will have the opportunity to provide listeners with contact information (including email address and website) – but not pricing information/where to purchase/etc. Some guests choose to provide a telephone number. While this is your choice – you are advised to consider this option carefully before you choose to do so.

For those of you who are “old hands” at radio – consider this a reminder of what you already know. For those who are “new hands” at radio…here are a few tips...

  1. The mike is quite sensitive and will even pick up rustling papers, whispers, etc.- so if you need to have something in front of you - just make sure the pages are laid out for quick, easy, silent access :-)
  2. Be sure to speak directly into the phone - this way your voice will be clearly heard.
  3. If you are asked anything that you are uncomfortable with answering -just say so -
  4. FYI: Because the mike is so sensitive - I always take off watch, rings, bracelets, etc. before a recording.
